– How and when did you become interested in photography?

I first became interested in photography when I was about 10 years old, fascinated by the idea that a moment in time could be frozen and relived through an image. I soon realized that photography could evoke emotions and tell stories in ways that words simply couldn’t. That realization gave me the confidence to start exploring the craft more seriously. Today, that same excitement I felt as a child still drives me. Every time I pick up a camera, it feels like an opportunity to connect with people, tell stories, and see the world in new ways. Photography is more than just what I do—it’s a part of who I am.

– Is there any artist/photographer who inspired your art?

Photographers such as Peter Lindbergh, David Yarrow, Joel Grimes, and Drew Doggett continually inspire me with their artistry and mastery of the craft. I study their work and techniques daily, recognizing them as true masters of visual storytelling. This serves as a constant reminder to invest in my growth and refine my skills, striving to achieve mastery in my own work.

– Why do you work in black and white rather than colour?

I work in black and white because it resonates with the way I see and interpret the world—stripped of distractions, focused on raw emotion and form. For me, black and white is about storytelling in its purest, most timeless form. It allows the interplay of light and shadow to take center stage, highlighting the textures, shapes, and details that might otherwise be overshadowed by color. This medium challenges me as an artist, requiring me to convey depth and narrative with the simplest of tools. It’s a deliberate choice to create images that are both evocative and enduring, ones that connect with viewers on a visceral level, unclouded by the complexities of color.

– How much preparation do you put into taking a photograph/series of photographs?

Preparation is crucial to my success. The fleeting moments when I capture my best shots are backed by hundreds of hours of meticulous research. Without careful planning, a photoshoot risks falling flat, and my goal is to ensure every project is executed with purpose and precision. The challenge often lies in generating ideas and deciding which to pursue, but this process is essential to transforming vision into reality.

My technique is deeply rooted in storytelling, where every element of the frame contributes to a narrative. I approach each scene with an emphasis on natural light and composition, often working in black and white to highlight textures, contrasts, and emotions that might otherwise be overshadowed by color. My creative process begins with connecting to the subject or environment, seeking the story behind it, and allowing that story to guide the shot. From capturing raw moments to fine-tuning details in post-production, I strive to create images that evoke a timeless sense of wonder and introspection.

My creative process begins with storytelling. I aim to craft images that evoke emotion and immerse the viewer in a narrative. Whether I’m working with dramatic lighting or using unique perspectives, I focus on creating depth and mood, particularly in black and white. I strive for a timeless quality, often emphasizing texture, shadow, and composition to amplify the impact. Each image is a collaboration between my vision and the subject, built on a foundation of patience, precision, and intentionality.

– Where is your photography going? What projects would you like to accomplish?

My photography is evolving toward deeper storytelling and larger-scale projects that resonate emotionally and intellectually with viewers. I want to explore themes that connect humanity, nature, and identity, pushing myself technically and creatively. A dream project would involve crafting a series that captures the unspoken narratives of marginalized communities or exploring the fragile beauty of endangered landscapes—using my work as a platform for connection, awareness, and change. Ultimately, I aim to create images that leave a lasting impression, both artistically and socially.
