It’s official, Euphoria season three concluded the series.

Following its season three finale Sunday, the show’s creator Sam Levinson announced the news on Popcast, The New York Times’ music podcast. The Hollywood Reporter has also confirmed the news.

The season three finale saw shocking deaths and an emotional tribute to Angus Cloud, who died in 2023  at age 25 of an acute intoxication following an accidental overdose. Read THR’s recap of the finale here.

The show ending doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise, since Zendaya has said in interviews that she thought this season was the last one. There was also a four-year gap between seasons two and three and rumors of conflict behind the scenes.

Asked about the years-long delay, Francesca Orsi, executive vp HBO programming, head of HBO drama series and films, recently told THR: “It was important that everyone felt season three was moving the story forward in a meaningful and ambitious way. When Sam began sharing how much more expansive the world of the show would feel this season, there was genuine excitement about returning.”

Levinson warned fans of the show that they shouldn’t wait around to watch the final episodes as they hit over the next 10 days. “If you’re not watching episodes seven and eight live — the moment they drop — they will get spoiled,” he said, not offering much more of a tease. “There’s some big things that happen.”

Earlier this month, Levinson told an audience at the American Cinematheque that he believes season three “is hands down our best season,” teasing that “there’s some big things that happen” in the episodes leading up to the finale.

Clearly, he wasn’t kidding: Last week’s episode (spoiler alert!) saw the death of Jacob Elordi’s Nate Jacobs. This week’s finale featured three deaths: Martha Kelly’s Laurie, who took her own life, and Zendaya’s Rue, whose drugs were laced with fentanyl and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s Alamo, who was fatally shot by Colman Domingo’s Ali.
