Leo Woodall, Clémence Poésy to Star in Peter Hoar’s ‘A Wa...
Scott Roxbor · 2026-04-30 · via The Hollywood Reporter

Leo Woodall (The White Lotus, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy) and Clémence Poésy (Tenet, In Bruges) have signed on to star in A Waiter in Paris, the feature debut of Emmy-nominated TV director Peter Hoar (The Last of Us, It’s a Sin).

Cornerstone has acquired worldwide sales rights to the title and will be pitching it to buyers at the Cannes Film Market next month. Cornerstone is handling all international rights and will co-rep the U.S. with WME Independent.

The film, based on Edward Chisholm’s memoir of the same name, follows L’Anglais (Woodall), an over-educated Brit trying to prove himself in the ruthless world of Parisian waiters. Poésy plays Pauline, the manager of the Parisian brasserie where L’Anglais works.

Ben Hopkins (Fuze, Limonov: The Ballad of Eddie) is adapting Chisholm’s memoir for the screen.

BBC Film, Curzon, Cineart and Madman are co-financing the project, with Curzon taking U.K. rights, Cineart handling Benelux and Madman releasing the film in Australia. The project was developed with BBC Film with the support of the Curzon CM Development Fund, the collaborative development fund operated by Curzon, Cineart and Madman. Jason Solomons at Movie Love Productions and Phin Glynn are producing. The film will shoot on location in Paris.

Woodall next stars alongside Dominic Sessa and Emilia Jones in Matt Johnson’s Anthony Bourdain Tony for A24; and in the new Lord of the Rings feature, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for
Golllum
, directed by Andy Serkis. Poésy comes off a recurring role in AMC’s The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and the BBC/CBS miniseries King & Conqueror.

Woodall is represented by Anonymous Content, B-Side Management, Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher and Shelter PR, Poésy by Agence Artisique Adéquat and Hoar by Curtis Brown/WME.
