President Curtis is getting ready to navigate the political landscape as only the Rick and Morty universe can.

Adult Swim‘s new series President Curtis is set to premiere July 26 at 11:30 p.m., The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The project is a spinoff of Rick and Morty and will debut immediately following the season nine finale of the flagship series. President Curtis episodes will stream the following day on HBO Max.

Voicing the titular President Andre Curtis is Keith David, who has been a Rick and Morty staple since debuting as the commander in chief during the season two fan-favorite “Get Schwifty” episode. President Curtis counts Rick and Morty executive producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano as co-creators.

As seen below in the trailer that is exclusive to THR, the new series will follow the leader of the free world and his quirky staff as they navigate a range of crises, including interdimensional diplomacy, paranormal investigations and unexplained phenomena. Stephanie Beatriz (Twisted Metal) and Jim Rash (Community) round out the voice cast.

Harmon and Siciliano announced the news Wednesday alongside David at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where the series screened its pilot episode. Harmon and Siciliano executive produce President Curtis with Danielle Uhlarik, Monica Mitchell and Steve Levy.

“There’s no better animation‑loving crowd than Annecy, which makes it the perfect place to debut this new series,” says Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen. “We can’t wait for everyone to see how great President Curtis is on his own when the series premieres next month!”

The trailer teases a variety of adventures for President Curtis and his team. One moment shows a young boy asking if President Curtis is his father, which leads the elected official to respond, “I ain’t your daddy, kid. And don’t try any of that ‘Billie Jean’ shit. I keep it wrapped and strapped.”

Rick and Morty, which launched in 2013, has been renewed through season 12 and has ranked as basic cable’s most-watched comedy over several seasons. THR reported last month that Rick and Morty supervising director Jacob Hair was in talks to helm an animated feature version of the series for Warner Bros.

When asked last year what fans can expect from President Curtis, David quipped to THR: “A different kind of controller than you see now in the Oval Office.” The actor added that the program will showcase “different kids of adventure as we plumb the universe.”
