Fanatics Sportsbook is launching an animated series narrated by Saturday Night Live star Kam Patterson … based on actual bets made by customers on its platform.

The five episode series is called Sketchy Bets, and will live on the social feeds of Fanatics Sportsbook beginning Thursday.

The series uses hand-drawn ketch-style animation to tell the comedic stories, which are based on actual wins, losses and other unusual bets made on its platform. The premise was to take conversations about bets that normally take place in group chats or small talk at bars and create a social video series out of it.

“Sports betting gives you stories you can’t make up,” Patterson says. “The parlay that had no business hitting but somehow did. The last-leg heartbreak you’re still not over. We took real bets from Fanatics Sportsbook customers and turned them into an animated show, narrated by me! If you’ve ever sweated out a bet, this is going to hit home for you.”

Patterson joined the cast of SNL last season as a featured player, where he was a regular presence on “Weekend Update.” A stand-up comic by trade, he first gained national attention for his appearances on the Kill Tony podcast hosted by Tony Hinchcliffe.

Patterson joins a crowded list of SNL stars using the off-season to roll out other comedic work. Marcello Hernandez will host the ESPYs for ESPN next month, while Kenan Thompson just published a children’s book. The high-profile of the show means that talent from the program are often in high demand for other projects.
