Jimmy Kimmel Thinks He May Have Saved Donald and Melania ...

When he’s not spreading anti-Trump rhetoric to incite violence making jokes about our president, Jimmy Kimmel‘s out here counseling couples.

Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue kicked off with a continued review of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s visit to America ahead of our 250th birthday, which of course celebrates our separation from their Crown.

On Tuesday, the Trumps hosted a fancy steak dinner for about 100 guests plus his two guests of honor. For their photo-op entrance, Donald and Melania Trump walked in holding hands — a sweet united front from the first couple of the United States.

The Trumps “lately have seemed closer than ever,” Kimmel said, “and I like to think I played a part in that.”

The ABC late night show then zoomed in on the Trumps’ hands, which didn’t help matters much. They released the hold, looked around awkwardly, and, after a POTUS pinkie tap, they eventually re-gripped.

“Considering the week I’ve had with the first couple, I’m just going to say that is a completely normal way to interact for two people who are very much in love,” Kimmel quipped. “Maybe that’s why his hands are all bruised: from Melania swatting them away.”

In case you’ve been living under a rock and with no phone charger, earlier this week, both Melania and Donald Trump (in that order) called for Kimmel to be fired from his late night gig. Again. The refreshed beef between the administration and Kimmel stems from a joke he made six nights ago. On Thursday, Kimmel put on a fake White House Correspondents Association Dinner roast since the real one did not book a comic. One wisecrack went too far, in the eyes of the people whose eyes sit below red caps.

“Look at Melania, so beautiful,” Kimmel said. “Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.”

MAGA Republicans took that as a threat — and some as an extremely prescient prediction for the assassination attempt that would come two days later at the real gala — when the rest of us realized it was a joke about 1) their age difference and 2) the perception that Mrs. Trump does not especially like Mr. Trump — well, not until Kimmel relit the flame.
