I found a previous question regarding the issue I'm running into, which
doesn't seem to have gotten any response:

I'm looking into being able to put certain hosts in an additional
hosts-file for dnsmasq, while keeping the ability to have them added to an
nftset.
This would allow me to change the IP-address(es) for the FQDNs, without
having to update my nftables rules.

During testing, I've found that when dnsmasq resolves a FQDN through a
hosts file, it isn't added to the nftset.

Is this by design, or am I missing something?
