3 Ways Salesforce Connections Has Boosted My Career
Shonica Mitchell · 2026-04-15 · via Salesforce

Salesforce Connections has always been a defining moment in my professional year. As I prepare to attend for my fourth time, I can’t help but reflect on how much this event has shaped my career. Not only have I learned so much about the rapidly evolving world of tech, but I’ve also had the incredible opportunity to build a supportive network and make amazing new friends within the Trailblazer community.

At this year’s conference, I’m eager to deepen my expertise in the technologies like Agentforce and Data 360 that are shaping the next era of marketing automation. I’m particularly focused on mastering Salesforce Flows for smarter campaign orchestration and exploring how Data 360 can power more personalized, data-driven client experiences.

Connections 26 is coming!

The blueprint for marketers has changed. Learn how you can incorporate agentic capabilities for your brand this June 3-4 in Chicago.

If you’ve ever wondered whether attending a Salesforce event is worth the time and investment, let me settle the debate, it is. As a digital marketing strategist and independent consultant, I’ve built my career at the intersection of technology and business growth. Connections always reminds me that it doesn’t matter how seasoned you are, there’s always more to learn. Here are three ways the event has helped me continue to level up.

I got ahead of what’s coming with Agentforce Marketing

Walking into Connections 2025, I knew agentic marketing was a growing conversation. I was determined to learn more about best practices and scalable solutions. Walking out, I had a strategic roadmap with industry standards and a handful of use cases from leading companies as examples of how they are using the platform and scaling their business.

I was able to do my first Agentforce Marketing implementation and conduct training for a customer. The sessions gave me a clear picture of where the industry is heading and how I should be adopting the new technology. What stood out most is that AI agents move beyond task automation and instead they operationalize your strategy. They can assemble complex campaigns, deliver true 1:1 personalization at scale, and self-optimize toward outcomes without constant human intervention. These processes run autonomously on a secure, structured platform I knew my team and I could trust.

This frees up marketers like myself to focus on what actually moves the needle, such as aligning sales and marketing around shared revenue goals, turning insights into smarter business decisions, and finding new audiences to grow into. I left with a sharper lens on how to position these capabilities for my clients.

That clarity alone was worth the trip.

Learning from fellow Trailblazers shifted my perspective

There’s something that happens when you’re in a room full of people who are just as passionate about this work as you are. Hearing how other Trailblazers are navigating challenges, implementing new tools and driving results pushed me to rethink some of my own approaches to customer engagement. It wasn’t just inspiring, it was practical. I came home with ideas I could act on immediately.

The Salesforce community, specifically the Marketing Champions, Salesforce MVPs, Salesblazers, and Women in Tech, are some of the most generous ecosystems in tech, and Connections puts that on full display.

Connections accelerated my professional development in a way self-study can’t

Between the sessions on Agentforce, the hands-on exposure to new tools and the networking with industry leaders, Connections compressed months of learning into two days. As someone actively expanding my Salesforce certifications and growing my consulting practice, the concentrated access to knowledge and community is invaluable.

Connections also reinforced something I often tell my clients, which is that staying ahead doesn’t mean knowing everything. It means staying connected to the people and platforms shaping what’s next. The relationships you build in that room don’t expire when the event ends. I have a community of experts I can lean on when there’s a roadblock I can’t solve, a question I need a second opinion on, or a client challenge that requires a perspective I haven’t yet encountered. That kind of access doesn’t come from a course or a certification. It comes from showing up, being present and investing in the people around you. In a field that moves as fast as ours, that network is a competitive advantage.

To this point, if you haven’t joined the The Agentic Marketer (TAM) community, I would definitely recommend it! The site offers deep-dive walkthroughs, field notes, and structured learning paths covering everything from Data 360 and Segmentation to Agentforce Marketing. With an active Slack community of 1,000+ members, it’s a great complement to Trailhead for practitioners navigating the next generation of the Salesforce marketing platform. Even better, it expands your network with people you can meet IRL at Connections.

What I’m looking forward to at Connections 2026

In short, a lot. I’m excited to reconnect with my fellow Marketing Champions and spend time in the Community Hub, going deeper on two-way conversations. What I’m most curious about is how AI agents can evolve beyond “do-not-reply” messages that turn every customer touchpoint into an intelligent, real-time dialogue.

If you’re on the fence about attending Connections, consider this your sign. Whether you’re just starting your Salesforce journey or you’ve been in the ecosystem for years, the event meets you where you are and challenges you to go further. Hope to see you there!

Register for Connections 26!
