I’m still testing out BlockAds, and I decided to put it through a tough Stress Test: WowROMS. That one site which is bombarded with horrific & highly malicious advertisements.

When I was using AdGuard, the ads got through easily, and that indicated a massive failure when it comes to security on Android devices.

But, when I used BlockAds with all the filters enabled, it essentially arrested those malicious ads and messages from showing up completely! I never thought an Ad-Blocker would seriously go that far to protect your device from bad actors!

I wonder if there’s other adverts it could block, alongside finding ways to circumvent Ad-Blocker Blocking attempts, like how Brave Browser handles them by developing methods around those detections…

I use my own nightly block list.

I have used this app 2 weeks back. It is good. Really good.

True, you can you make your own rules in the app. So in theory it’s more than possible for us to create ways to circumvent Ad-Blocker Blockers.

The only problem is: Can we do it? Considering that multiple websites block Ad-Blockers, not to mention Captchas are a big problem too. Those can track us as well.

I just found a new problem site: FurAffinity, which uses a special Video Ad slot. That needs to be completely blocked out somehow.

@ArceusI

How is this better than, e.g. AdAway?

It’s just a DNS blocker, right? If so, using the same lists should give the same results.
