Over the last few weeks, we have simplified our tiers and pricing, and offered access to new premium models like GPT-4.1 and o4-mini for free. We are continuing this trend of improving access to a premium AI experience by upgrading our Free tier.
Here is what the Free tier is going to have now:

More premium credits: We are bringing all premium models to the Free plan with the full agentic experience. Instead of just 5 premium prompt credits a month, a user will get 25. With GPT-4.1 and o4-mini still on a discounted 0.25 credit rate, this corresponds to 100 such prompts every month.

Unlimited full agent: We are also going to give unlimited Cascade Base model usage in Write mode to our Free users. Previously, unlimited Cascade Base was available, but not with the full agentic experience.

Unlimited Fast Tab: Free users will now have unlimited fast Tab completions, the highest performing Tab experience that was previously available only to paying users. This is the full Tab experience - autocomplete, supercomplete, tab-to-jump, tab-to-import, and more.

Previews and Deploys: Unlimited Previews and one Deploy a day.
While paying users get significantly more credits and higher priority on premium models if there are capacity constraints, by adding in previously-gated features, our Free plan now lets everyone build with a meaningful premium AI experience.
For those that have followed our journey for the last couple of years, you will know that we have always aimed to provide the best Free tier on the market, often better than other paid plans at the time. For example, we gave unlimited Autocomplete, Chat, and Command out for free at a time when everyone else was charging money or placing rate limits (or both). This was possible because of our infrastructure background, which allowed us to optimize serving costs so much that this was a realistic offering that we could uniquely provide. While the premium models of today are significantly more costly, we are committed to leaning into our infrastructure background to be able to provide meaningful offerings for everyone, independent of financial situation.

Our mission is for everyone to be able to dream bigger, capture their limitless potential, and stay in a powerful flow state. Back in November for the Windsurf Editor launch, we threw together a logo relatively quickly, without really taking the time to iterate on concepts that would best reflect this mission.
