Fugro has secured a contract to conduct geotechnical site investigations for the 600MW FengMiao II Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), one of the developers under Taiwan’s Round 3.2 offshore wind tender, awarded the contract.

The site forms part of the country’s target to reach 13.1GW of installed offshore wind capacity by 2030.

Under the terms of the agreement, Fugro will provide a range of geotechnical services to assist the development of the FengMiao II project.

The offshore investigative works will utilise the Taiwan-flagged Pacific Hornbill vessel, which is fitted with a C30 marine drilling rig.

This vessel also carries Fugro’s WISON MkV EcoDrive tools for downhole in situ testing and sampling, as well as additional equipment such as the SEACALF MkV Deep Drive system.

The fieldwork is scheduled to conclude by the third quarter of 2026.

Fugro Asia-Pacific regional business line director Safri Drahman said: “We are honoured to be selected by CIP to support the FengMiao II Offshore Wind Farm.

“This award demonstrates the trust CIP places in Fugro’s proven track record of delivering high‑value geo-data solutions to offshore wind clients in Taiwan since 2016.”

The contract supports Taiwan’s ongoing investments in renewable energy infrastructure as part of its wider national energy goals.

In March 2026, Fugro begun a geotechnical site investigation at the Oriel Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of County Louth, Ireland. The 375MW project is under development by JERA Nex and ESB.

The Oriel wind farm awarded the contract to Fugro, which has started operations using the Fugro Voyager vessel.

The investigation will generate data to support the design and installation of foundations for 25 planned wind turbines.
