GenusPlus Group has secured a A$110m ($78.5m) installation contract for the 200MW/800MW-hour Koolunga (KLG) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in South Australia.

The contract will be delivered on a lump-sum, turnkey basis.

The scope of work includes engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) for the balance of plant (BoP) and BESS installation.

Work is expected to begin shortly, with completion anticipated by September 2027.

The KLG project is situated around 6km south-east of Koolunga and 7km north-east of Brinkworth.

It will link to the state’s electricity grid through a 1.2km high-voltage cable connected to the 275kV Brinkworth Substation.

Owned by Equis Development, an infrastructure investor in Asia-Pacific, the KLG project has obtained all necessary planning and environmental approvals, and completed community impact assessments.
