How Organization for Transformative Works uses Buttondown
Asharee Peters · 2024-11-11 · via Buttondown's blog

The Organization for Transformative Works is a nonprofit organization that preserves all kinds of works from fan culture. Their biggest & most notable project is Archive of Our Own, which allows people to host their fan fiction from all over the world.

They're not a typical use case for Buttondown, using RSS-to-email to send their newsletter in sixteen languages. As an example of a larger organization that stretches the limits of what's possible through us, we've been listening to their needs and adapting Buttondown accordingly.

Sveritas, OTW's communications director, said:

We’ve been using the RSS-to-Email functionality to automate sending out news posts in 16 different languages. We are definitely outside the typical use case with our heavy usage of templating, meta-data, and tags so we occasionally hit edge cases and run into issues but the folks at buttondown have always been quick to respond, fix bugs, and suggest solutions. Buttondown’s flexibility lets us achieve exactly what we want without having to pay an arm and a leg or roll our own solution.

Are you a larger business, wondering whether Buttondown will be a good fit? We take our product direction from our users – no matter how large they might be. Reach out today and let's begin a conversation about how we can help.
