FrogSky — cheap travel, honest prices

Istanbul to Cappadocia: Bus vs Flight (2026 Guide) How to Find Cheap Bus Tickets in Türkiye: 2026 Guide Cheapest Months to Fly Istanbul → London in 2026 Budget Airlines Worth Flying in Europe Underrated European Cities for 2026
Best Time to Visit Europe — A Monthly Guide
FrogSky Team · 2026-04-12 · via FrogSky — cheap travel, honest prices

January – February

Deep winter across most of the continent means rock-bottom prices on flights and hotels — but also short days and cold temperatures.

Best for: Skiing in the Alps, museum-hopping in Paris with no queues.

Avoid: Northern Scandinavia (limited daylight), Greek islands (many ferries suspended).

March – April

Shoulder season gold. Flowers bloom in the Netherlands, southern Spain warms up nicely, and prices haven't spiked yet.

Best for: Tulip fields in Keukenhof, Andalusia before the summer heat, Istanbul's cherry blossoms.

Tip: Easter week can be surprisingly busy in Catholic countries — book early.

May – June

The sweet spot. Warm but not scorching, long days, and the sea is swimmable in the Mediterranean. Prices climb toward July but haven't peaked.

Best for: Island hopping (Greece, Croatia), road trips through Tuscany, outdoor dining everywhere.

July – August

Peak summer. Europeans are on holiday, prices are at their highest, and southern cities like Rome and Seville can hit 40 °C.

Best for: Nordic countries (Norway, Iceland, Sweden), Baltic beaches, high-altitude escapes.

Tip: If you must visit southern Europe, go early morning or late evening — siesta hours exist for a reason.

September – October

Second shoulder season. The sea is still warm from summer, crowds thin out, and harvest festivals dot the countryside.

Best for: Wine regions (Portugal's Douro, France's Loire Valley), Greek islands without the party crowds.

November – December

Low season returns — except for Christmas markets, which draw big crowds to Germany, Austria, and Alsace.

Best for: Christmas markets, Northern Lights (Iceland, Norway), city breaks at off-peak rates.

The Bottom Line

Goal Best Months
Cheapest flights Jan–Feb, Nov
Best weather May–Jun, Sep
Fewest crowds Mar–Apr, Oct–Nov
Christmas markets Dec
