The Testaments, a sequel to the 2017 series The Handmaid’s Tale, premiered on Hulu on April 8.
Elisabeth Moss reprises her role as June Osborne, the protagonist in The Handmaid’s Tale. The new series follows June’s daughter Agnes (Chase Infiniti) and her friend Daisy, played by Hollywood newcomer Lucy Halliday, as the teenage girls navigate the dystopic society they live in.

The show’s cast also includes Sabrina Carpenter’s former Disney Channel co-star Rowan Blanchard. Meanwhile, Ann Dowd reprises her role as Aunt Lydia.
Both shows are adapted from Margaret Atwood novels. The Handmaid’s Tale was first published in 1985, and its story – surrounding women surviving in a dystopian, patriarchal and totalitarian society – continues to resonate today. The book’s sequel, The Testaments, was released in 2019.

As the show premieres, we take a look at what you need to know about Halliday, as the series marks her US television debut.

Hailing from Paisley, Scotland, Halliday grew up participating in plays at her local youth theatre. The young thespian admitted in an interview with Island Magazine that despite her childhood as a theatre kid, she had never seriously considered pursuing a career in acting.
