While competing in the HKFC Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens has “got the juices flowing” for a host of Premier League stalwarts, it is off the pitch that they have been making professional gains.

The All Stars team featuring Charlie Daniels, Hayden Mullins, Noel Hunt and Luis Boa Morte have been trading insights from their respective nascent coaching journeys.

A veteran of more than 200 matches under Eddie Howe with Bournemouth, Daniels is now coaching at Watford, and spent time in temporary charge following the exit of Javi Gracia last season.

“It’s valuable to have this time together and really connect; to speak about different clubs and understand how they all work,” said Daniels, who finished his 17-year career in Mullins’ Colchester United team.

“You hear lots of different things and swap knowledge, so there’s lots of bits to take. Hayden is farther down the road, and Noel Hunt worked his way up to manage Reading, so you can learn from these guys.”

Part of Howe’s Bournemouth team that climbed from League One to the Premier League, Daniels, 39, said he would be “silly not to take a lot” from the Englishman, who is currently Newcastle United boss.
