Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation will launch a large-scale railway exhibition at Hung Hom Station on May 16, featuring four retired trains and a new immersive train driving simulator.

The rail giant said on Saturday that the exhibition, titled “Station Rail Voyage: Explorer”, would feature an expanded layout with a refreshed look.

“The exhibition retains four iconic retired trains on display while introducing a new immersive train driving simulator and a range of interactive experiences, offering the public a one-stop opportunity to explore the professional work behind the city’s daily railway operations and the close connection between railway development and urban growth,” the firm said.

A highlight of the exhibition is the new “Becoming a Train Captain” experience, which allows visitors to simulate operating a train in a driver training cab.

Newly added tunnel maintenance and operations control centre scenes will enable visitors to learn more about railway safety work, while children can try on simulated staff and engineering uniforms and take photos in different themed settings.

Another feature is a five-metre-long giant ticket wall, which displays more than 2,500 classic MTR tickets and Octopus cards, illustrating the evolution of ticket design.

The exhibition also features a selection of artefacts highlighting milestones in the construction of the underground railway.
