The Boys star Erin Moriarty recently spoke up about struggling to film the Prime Video show’s fifth and final season – which just premiered earlier this month – due to her autoimmune disorder.
On the show, the 31-year-old actress plays Annie January, a superhero who goes by the name Starlight. Moriarty suffers from Graves’ disease and opened up to the public about her diagnosis in June 2025.
She recently told the Hollywood Reporter that she wasn’t going to watch herself in the latest season because of the “physical and mental toll” the disease took on her. “I was on set every day just really, really, really struggling to get through it all,” she said.

Here’s everything to know about actress Erin Moriarty.

Moriarty was born in New York City in June 1994. Her parents separated when she was still young, and Moriarty grew up splitting her time between them. She credits her father, a “total cinephile”, for her love of acting and films, per Grumpy Magazine, an indie publication founded in France.
She initially had her sights set on Broadway and landed the titular role in a 2005 local production of Annie at the age of 11. Following her onstage debut, Moriarty landed a recurring role in the 2010 soap opera One Life to Live. The actress relocated to Los Angeles and went on to appear in shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2011 and True Detective in 2014.
In 2015, Moriarty joined the Marvel universe with a role in Jessica Jones. She was cast in The Boys in 2017, her biggest role yet.
