The latest accounts filed by the Premier League show the chief executive, Richard Masters, received £1m in a performance-related bonus.

Accounts by the Premier League for the year ending 31 July 2025 were published on Companies House on Tuesday and revealed Masters’ improved salary.

Masters received £1.9m in 2024, but was rewarded with a £1.1m payment last year as part of a long-term incentive scheme.

This has increased Masters’ annual wage to £2.6m as he approaches seven years in his CEO role. Masters worked with the England and Wales Cricket Board for six years from 1994 and a spell with the English Football League followed before he joined the Premier League in 2006.

Masters was promoted to the position of interim chief executive at the end of 2018 before he was officially handed the role a year later.

During an eventful tenure, he has helped the league navigate the coronavirus pandemic and warded off the threat of the European Super League in 2021.
