How HubSpot scaled video infrastructure — and built AI tools on top | Mux
Lamia Chlala · 2026-03-19 · via Mux Blog - Video technology and more

HubSpot is a CRM and marketing platform serving over 170,000 customers. We chatted with Lincoln Bryant, Staff Software Engineer at HubSpot, about how partnering with Mux on video infrastructure has allowed their team to focus on building — including AI-powered video tools for their customers.

Watch the video above or read about it in HubSpot's own words.

LinkIn HubSpot's own words:

HubSpot's mission is to help customers of all shapes and sizes grow better. We help 170,000+ customers upload and manage their video libraries and we also host tens of thousands of customer sites and power video experiences for their visitors.

Before we found Mux we couldn’t achieve the scale we desired. It was cost preventative to let our customers have as many videos as they wanted to post. We also had to use a third party SDK they provided which proved unreliable. We had numerous incidents where our vendor would make breaking changes or go down so we wanted to actually own the player and take control over what our customers' visitors see.

We evaluated several vendors, but Mux was by far the most developer friendly and mature. They had excellent documentation, a ton of educational blog posts, and also real humans to help us get started. Overall, we achieved this migration from the old vendor with very minimal disruption. Mux transcodes videos on behalf of all our customers and manages streaming them on our customers' sites. Our customers now are able to upload many more videos, they have faster transcoding, and a more reliable player experience for their visitors.

Content Remix is a tool that allows marketers to repurpose content from one form into another. We're adding features as fast as we can. For example, exploring new models for generative video, incorporating generated images into our videos, and doing everything we can to help our customers optimize video for their use case, whether that's for their website or for social media. We've recently launched a set of rich editing tools powered by AI that allow our users to clip, crop, and now even add custom image and text overlays and captions in whatever style that they want. AI can also automatically translate those captions into many different languages and be used in the player or burned in for publishing to social media.

We've had an awesome experience with Mux from the start. Their documentation and support have been amazing. We've had our costs go down while features have been added over the years and have continued to be impressed with the quality and reliability. I don't think we've had an outage or an incident caused by Mux since we started using them several years ago. So, overall I would strongly recommend them.
