But if you’re filling out your own tool kit, you have no doubt noticed that tools can also be quite expensive. Luckily, Amazon Prime Day includes some great discounts on DeWalt tools and accessories—you can save as much as 50%. Here are some of my top picks to consider.

If you want to do some DIY woodworking or undertake a basic project like hanging shelves, having a few simple cordless tools will make the job quicker to complete and the results look more professional. Choosing a brand like DeWalt, which has over 300 cordless tools that work with their 20-volt batteries, means that you can build out your tool kit with batteries that will grow alongside your skills and abilities, and they will last for up to a decade before needing to be replaced.

• This DeWalt 20-volt drill is on sale for $129, 46% off its regular price. Although this shop vac doesn’t come with a battery, you can use it with a cord, so you don’t necessarily need a battery for it to work. A wet-dry shop vac is useful for many plumbing projects as well as to clean up around your home workshop.

• This DeWalt 20-volt drill and circular saw combo kit is on sale for $199, 33% off its typical price. This set comes with a drill, a circular saw, two 2-amp-hour batteries, a charger, and a tool bag. This is a good set for budding DIYers because it includes batteries, although if you plan on using the saw for more than a few cuts at a time, you will likely want to invest in a higher-capacity battery.

The best Prime Day deals on DeWalt batteries

Batteries will make or break your cordless tool set, and having enough of them on hand so you never have to wait for one to charge will make your DIY projects go much more smoothly.

• A set of 4 DeWalt 20-volt MAX batteries is on sale for $129, 28% off its regular price. It includes two 2-amp-hour batteries and two 4-amp-hour batteries. This is a good expansion pack for an existing DeWalat set, but it doesn’t come with a charger, so you’ll need to buy one if you don’t already have a DeWalt 20-volt charger.

• This set of 4 DeWalt 20-volt MAX XR batteries is on sale for $329, 30% off its usual price. It comes with two 3.5-amp-hour batteries and two 1.7-amp-hour batteries. These are compact, light, and efficient batteries. The advantage of this battery type is that it lasts longer on a charge and has higher output burst than a regular 20-volt battery. Because they're light, they’re more comfortable to use for long periods of time, and you can keep your tools going for longer on a single charge. (These are good batteries for upgrading your existing DeWalt 20-volt tool set, but there's no charger included.)
