There are a ton of flashy tech products on sale for Prime Day, but it's also a great time to buy the boring tech items, saving yourself a little money on things that don't turn anyone's head, but that you need to keep your flashier devices running smoothly.

• Belkin 12-Outlet Surge Protector: If you've been meaning to get a decent surge-protecting power strip, this one features an 8-foot cord, 12 AC outlets, and more. It's a steal at $23.19, 20% off the normal price.

• TP-Link AC1900 WiFi Range Extender: If your wi-fi is dropping off in the corners of your estate, this dual-band wireless repeater amplifier will solve the problem. It covers up to 2,100 square feet and handles speeds of up to 1300 Mbps.
