The implementation process
“When we started with the implementation of Proxmox Mail Gateway, we first defined the system and network requirements such as the VM specifications and the configuration of our firewall. Then we installed Proxmox Mail Gateway as a virtual appliance on our system and configured basic functions via the web interface.”
“After the initial setup of our mail relay domains and the network configuration including reverse DNS entries for outgoing mail, we defined rules for spam and virus filtering, enabled TLS for opportunistic encryption of email transmission, and configured the authentication of all users on our Zimbra Collaboration mail server. Finally, we changed our public MX entry to point to Proxmox Mail Gateway. This way, only clean emails reach our mail server.”
After the deployment of Proxmox Mail Gateway there was an extensive user acceptance test to ensure that all requirements for the project were met.
