VIENNA, October 24, 2012 - Proxmox Server Solutions, developer of the open-source server vitualization platform, today released Proxmox Virtual Environment 2.2. The newest version of Proxmox VE enables live snapshots for KVM guests and was updated to the stable RHEL-6.x-Kernel 2.6.32-042. The update to Proxmox VE 2.2 also includes KVM in version 1.2.0 and OpenVZ 4.0.

Proxmox Virtual Environment is a complete open-source virtualization platform which combines KVM full virtualization with container-based virtualization from OpenVZ. With the new live snapshots feature Proxmox VE users can preserve the state of a KVM virtual machine and roll back to it whenever they like. A live snapshot includes the content of the virtual machine memory, virtual machine settings, and the state of all the virtual disks. When rolling back to a taken snapshot, all the memory, the virtual disks and other settings of the virtual machine can be restored.
