After countless hours of work, I think I can say that the UFO Timeline is complete when it comes to functionality and design. The content will always be a work in progress though, as I update it when new important information comes out.
This project began exactly on December 26, 2021 and has been the project I’ve poured most hours into of any, ever. It now contains over 350 entries of high-quality content and should hopefully be a treasure for people new to the UFO phenomenon, who want to research more on their own. I’ve tried my best to take a quality > quantity approach, to save others time when they dive into the rabbit hole.
I’ve tried my best to find a balance between usability and design. I hope the design helps and makes browsing the filters and finding content easy for anyone. The whole timeline format, and using WordPress as base, worked out better than I initially thought it would. I never used any other website as inspiration, so this whole thing was experimental from the beginning. In the end, it turned out as a pretty unique site.
If you haven’t already, make sure to check it out live: UFOTimeline.com. A lot of time has been spent on making both the mobile and desktop version equally good. So, take your phone out and try it there as well!
You can select to browse from 7 different filters/categories, each color coded for easy viewing:
And separate from the main timeline, there are also these two custom post types:
The website has received positive words from people like Stanford University Professor Garry P. Nolan, Navy Fighter Pilot Ryan Graves and Film Director Jeremy Corbell – all which I’m very proud of. Corbell called it “an excellent educational concept”.
After getting many rounds of extremely useful feedback and thoughts from Reddit and X since 2021, I have polished and worked on everything, from big to small details. This is how the timeline looked when I started on it back in late 2021. Today, the GitHub repository has over 400 commits of varying sizes, which shows how this project has changed, changed and changed again, hopefully to something better.
Here are some screenshots taken today of different pages. Note that there are many details, from hover effects to animations, that needs to be experienced live.
