We've all got creative outlets and mine is writing. Writers don't need big elaborate spaces to do their work, just a desk and a chair, so I was pretty jealous visiting the workshop/studio of artists Rone & Callum Preston in Collingwood as part of Melbourne Open House 2025.
My wife and I big fans of Rone's work like Empire, Time and the Geelong Gallery, and Callum's video shop installation at the Melbourne Immigration Museum is a must see if you haven't checked it out yet! So being able to get a little peek at where they do their work was a delight.
It was also cool to meet the guys and listen to them talk about the space where they can be so creative. For Callum in particular, it felt like the studio is almost like his brain poured out into the physical world. I wish I had a similar place just to do cool shit with your friends in a trendy location that gives you inspiration by being around other creative people.
Here's some photos I took of the visit, enjoy! (btw you can click to make the images bigger)
