We're excited to launch Orb 1.3 with new settings, languages, bug fixes and more!
Here’s a full rundown of what’s new in Orb 1.3:
New Features
⚙ View-only Mode
Sometimes you just want to check in without taking measurements — and now you can! With View-Only Mode, you can disable the in-app sensor so the app won’t measure network connectivity from that device. This is especially handy when you’re using the app purely to view other Orbs on your account.
How to enable it: Go to Settings → App Settings and toggle View-Only Mode.
🌎 Additional Language Support
Our global community just got a little closer. We’ve added Dutch, French, Russian, and Spanish to the Orb app, with more languages coming soon!
How to change your language: Head to Settings → App Settings → Language and choose your preferred language.
⚙️ New Settings: Start in Background & Hide Dock Icon (macOS)
Perfect for minimalists. New settings to start Orb in the background and to hide the dock icon are now available on macOS.
How to enable them: Go to Settings → App Settings and toggle Start in Background and/or Hide Dock Icon.
Usability Improvements & Bug Fixes
- Orb Score Display Fix: When starting measurements, the score will now appear colorless until calculated, instead of showing “--” in red occasionally.
- Mobile App Optimization: We’ve reduced responsiveness spikes when returning to the app from the background.
- Android Bug: When using Android 16, the app overlapped with the device status bar. This has been resolved.
- Windows System Tray Label: The system tray now properly displays an “Orb” label.
- Windows Startup Fix: When “Launch Orb at Startup” and “Launch in Background” are both enabled, Orb will now appear correctly in other apps without needing to be foregrounded first.
