A grand imposing building in Mayfair occasionally opens its doors to offer tours for people who want to have a look around.

This is the Royal Institution, founded in 1799 by the leading scientists of the time, and it’s been home to science and discovery ever since. Although it’s open for the free museum in the basement and regular events, few people get to wander around the building.

So, they’re introducing a new idea of offering guided tours of the building and its history at the Royal Institution. A tour guide will take you through the rooms of their Grade I listed building, including the famous lecture theatre, Faraday Lab and Library.

Tours last approximately 45 minutes and involve walking and standing. A lift is available for those unable to manage stairs. The tour is wheelchair accessible.

Tours cost £11.02 per person and the next one takes place at noon on Wednesday 1st July at 12 noon.
