The Blessington Greenway Trail is a hidden gem in the heart of the Wicklow countryside, offering a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The picturesque trail extends for 6.5 kilometers, following the shore of the beautiful Blessington Lakes and traversing through lush woodland areas.

As we embarked on the trail, the day was overcast, with a thick blanket of clouds shrouding the sky. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, soothingly contrasting the warm sunlit days we'd been experiencing recently. The lakeside walk, surrounded by enchanting woodland, was a welcoming sight as we set off on our adventure.

We stopped at the nearby Russborough House & Park, located just a short detour from the trail. The estate offers a rich historical experience and a chance to immerse oneself in the grandeur of Ireland's architectural heritage. Built between 1741 and 1750, Russborough House is a stunning example of Palladian architecture, surrounded by meticulously maintained gardens and parklands.

We decided to take a break and treat ourselves to some refreshments at the on-site café. As I settled down with a steaming cup of freshly brewed coffee, I couldn't resist the tempting homemade apple pie. The combination of warm, tender apples, encased in a flaky, buttery crust, was nothing short of heavenly. Paired with the rich, aromatic coffee, it was a match made in gastronomic heaven.

As we continued along the trail, the clouds slowly began to part, revealing a beautiful azure sky. The sun's rays pierced through the gaps in the clouds, casting a golden glow on the landscape. The change in weather had an invigorating effect on our surroundings. We finished our hike at Avon Rí. We stayed outside on the seats for a while before leaving.
