Thrustmaster has announced the T.Flight Hotas 5 Microsoft Flight Simulator Edition, a new entry-level HOTAS flight control system designed for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Windows PCs. Developed in partnership with Microsoft, the controller carries official Microsoft Flight Simulator branding and is aimed at users looking for a more immersive experience in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 without stepping into the higher-priced enthusiast segment. The new model retains the familiar joystick-and-throttle configuration that has made the T.Flight series popular among casual flight simulation enthusiasts. The controller features a detachable throttle unit, allowing users to either keep the setup connected for couch gaming or separate the two modules for a more authentic desktop cockpit arrangement. A weighted base helps improve stability during flight sessions, while adjustable stick resistance allows pilots to tailor the control feel to their preferences.
Thrustmaster equips the T.Flight Hotas 5 with 14 action buttons, a rapid-fire trigger, a multidirectional hat switch and five axes, including a twist-rudder Z-axis. The company states that all primary flight controls operate with 16-bit precision for smoother and more accurate aircraft handling. One of the notable additions is the dual-rudder system. Users can choose between traditional twist-stick yaw control or use the dedicated progressive tilting lever located on the throttle section. This flexibility allows the controller to better accommodate different aircraft types, from commercial airliners and general aviation aircraft to military jets and helicopters.
The T.Flight Hotas 5 Microsoft Flight Simulator Edition adopts Microsoft's signature white, blue and black color scheme and integrates PlayStation controller buttons for native console compatibility. Thanks to Plug & Play support, the device is automatically recognized on PS5, PS4 and Windows 10/11 systems, minimizing setup time before takeoff.
For users seeking an even more realistic experience, the controller is also compatible with the Thrustmaster TFRP rudder pedal system, sold separately.
The Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 5 Microsoft Flight Simulator Edition is available immediately with a suggested retail price of $109.99, €99.99 and £89.99. At that price point, it positions itself as an accessible entry into dedicated flight simulation controls while offering enough customization and functionality to satisfy more experienced virtual pilots.
