ASUS Launches Prime RX 9070 GRE OC and Compact EVO Variant

ASUS has expanded its Radeon graphics card portfolio with the launch of two Prime-series Radeon RX 9070 GRE OC models for global markets. The new additions arrive shortly after AMD lifted restrictions on the Radeon RX 9070 GRE, allowing board partners to introduce customized designs outside the card's initial launch regions. The lineup consists of the Prime Radeon RX 9070 GRE OC and the Prime Radeon RX 9070 GRE OC EVO. Both graphics cards feature factory overclocking, triple-fan cooling solutions, and identical performance specifications, but differ in physical dimensions and thermal implementation. The Prime RX 9070 GRE OC EVO is designed as the more compact option, measuring 304 x 126 x 50 mm. The standard Prime RX 9070 GRE OC is slightly larger at 312 x 130 x 50 mm. While the size difference is relatively small, it could improve compatibility with more compact chassis designs and provide additional flexibility for system builders.

ASUS has also differentiated the two models through their cooling hardware. The standard Prime version incorporates the company's MaxContact technology, a manufacturing process that improves the flatness of the heatsink contact surface to increase thermal transfer efficiency between the GPU die and cooling assembly. The EVO model does not list this feature, suggesting a simplified thermal design optimized around its smaller dimensions.

The PCIe mounting bracket design has also been revised between the two variants, giving each card a unique external appearance despite sharing the same underlying GPU. Performance specifications remain unchanged across both models. ASUS rates each card with a boost clock of up to 2880 MHz, approximately 90 MHz above AMD's reference specification. The game clock is rated at 2300 MHz, providing an 80 MHz increase over standard operating frequencies. Memory configuration and operating characteristics remain aligned with AMD's official Radeon RX 9070 GRE reference design. Rather than pursuing significantly different performance targets, ASUS appears to be focusing on form factor and cooling preferences. The standard Prime model targets users seeking enhanced thermal features, while the EVO variant caters to builders looking for a slightly more compact graphics card without sacrificing factory-overclocked performance.

As AMD's Radeon RX 9070 GRE becomes available across a broader range of markets, board partners are continuing to expand their product offerings. ASUS' latest Prime-series additions provide consumers with two distinct cooling and sizing options while maintaining the same GPU performance profile.
