ASRock has been on a roll recently with plenty of its sub-$300 motherboards picking up awards thanks to excellent value and decent performance, and the Phantom Gaming X870 Riptide Wi-Fi's B850 sibling has itself been one of the best-reviewed boards we've looked at.
Even better is that it's received numerous price cuts since it launched a while back, and rather than being just under $300, it will now leave you with change from $200. That makes it one of the cheapest X870 motherboards out there, at least in the US. For some reason, it's much more expensive in Europe, currently retailing for around £250 in the UK for example.
Whether you should go with X870 or not depends on your needs. There's scope for additional high-speed USB ports including USB4 as standard, as well as more PCIe lanes, but the question is can ASRock tick these boxes without skimping in other areas, despite the Phantom Gaming X870 Riptide Wi-Fi leaving you with enough change from $200 to buy a CPU cooler?
