Keychron Teases Full-Size Hybrid Mechanical-Magnetic TMR Gaming Keyboard
by Cpt.Jank Today, 02:27 Discuss (0 Comments) · 2026-06-16 · via TechPowerUp

Following the recent updates to the Keychron wireless keyboard line-up, with new ZMK firmware and mechanical and Hall effect models reaching gamers, Keychron has started to tease an upcoming version of its V6 keyboard that it is calling a next-gen keyboard architecture. The post on X revealing the keyboard's design and existence reveals that it will have TMR sensing technology, which is known to be more efficient than Hall-effect sensors, and a "Nova Socket architecture," with a hybrid platform. This all suggests that Keychron, which has long used TMR sensors in its wireless "HE" keyboard series, will leverage TMR sensors in order to support both mechanical and analogue magnetic switches.

A hybrid socket would allow users to switch between the feel of mechanical switches and the customization and performance benefits of magnetic switches. As for the hardware, the first keyboard apparently launching with the hybrid design is a full-size V6 keyboard, suggesting it will have a plastic case (usually, Keychron Q-series keyboards are aluminium, while K- and V-series are plastic). The image shared by the brand also reveals a proper full-size layout, replete with a programmable knob above the backspace key, a full-size navigation cluster over the arrow keys, a num pad with a full-width zero key, and a four-key macro row above the num pad. The keycaps in the image are Keychron's in-house OSA design, which use OEM height with more rounded edges and a cylindrical top.
