Thermal Grizzly Shows New Duronaut Pro and Hydronaut Pro ...

Thermal Grizzly showcased its new and upcoming Duronaut Pro and Hydronaut Pro high-performance thermal paste that should be coming to market soon. In addition, the company brought several new prototypes to the show, including a diamond-based version of the Mycro Direct-Die block, as well as a couple of new block coatings developed with Swiss coating technology expert Platit.

While the upcoming Duronaut Pro and Hydronaut Pro thermal paste versions will bring improvements compared to the previously available ones. The Duronaut Pro, which offers long-term durability and high thermal conductivity, is aimed at gamers and overclockers, as well as demanding industrial cooling systems. The new version, Duronaut Pro, promises much lower temperatures compared to the previous version, and the same goes for the Hydronaut Pro, which is a silicon-free thermal paste more aimed at gaming systems with liquid coolers that have large-surface heatsinks. The Duronaut Pro and Hydronaut Pro should be launching pretty soon, and we will surely keep an eye on them.

The biggest star of the Thermal Grizzly showcase was definitely the Mycro Direct-Die Diamond block, which uses two CVD industrial-grade diamonds worth €500 that have a theoretical thermal conductivity of up to 2200 W/m-K and implemented them in a copper-diamond block and comparing it to the standard copper-only cold plate. At the end of the day, the solution does perform better and shows what is currently possible to achieve, but, on the other hand, we doubt it will become an actual product due to the price.

In addition to the Mycro Direct-Die Diamond block, Thermal Grizzly also showcased a couple of new coatings. Thermal Grizzly teamed up with Swiss-based experts from Platit to showcase four different next-generation Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coatings, each with unique properties and performance. These offer either better corrosion resistance, better scratch resistance, better thermal performance, and more. Thermal Grizzly says it is still testing and evaluating each of those coatings, and since some offer impressive results, we wouldn't be surprised if we saw some of those in future Thermal Grizzly blocks.
