With Father’s Day on the horizon, happening June 21st, it’s time to start thinking about what kind of gifts you want to buy for the fathers you care about. You know your dad best — he may be a man of simple pleasures who wants nothing more than to share a meal or drinks with his loved ones. Or, he might have… extremely specific preferences and expectations of how his big day should go. Of the many dads and dad-knowers polled at The Verge for this here gift guide, we think we have all of the bases covered, no matter your budget.

We focused specifically on items that will delight your dad and make their life easier, or just slightly more fun. We’ve got chill notebook games based on golf that are perfect for rainy days, handy rechargeable jumpstarters, and customizable LED ceiling fixtures that can transform the room. We also included hiking-friendly kiddo carriers, magnetic QWERTY keyboards for their phones, and much more below.

How much do you want to spend?

$30

A monitor arm is one of the best gizmos you can gift to a dad who works at a desk. Monitor stands take up quite a bit of space, but a monitor arm lets a display hover, providing a bunch of extra desk real estate beneath to be more organized, or just to feel less cluttered while he works or plays.

$89

There are few things more relaxing than paging through Calvin and Hobbes. Whether the dad in your life has fond memories of the duo, or perhaps he’s never read it, The Complete Calvin and Hobbes is a thoughtful gift that includes every daily and Sunday strip from the lighthearted series’ run between 1985 and 1995.

$20

Dad may be picky about what he carries with him on daily adventures, but we have a feeling he’ll like the Wuben G5 flashlight enough to tote it around. It’s as small as a Zippo lighter, yet far more versatile, with a bright, rotatable light that can shine in numerous colors. It features USB-C charging and has an adjustable clip.

$100

There are few things worse than being stranded with a dead car battery. What’s worse is not having a backup plan to get going again. Noco’s Boost GB40 is a rechargeable battery with jumper cables to start six-liter gas or three-liter diesel engines. It also has USB ports so you can charge your phone.

$250

The Smart Ceiling Light Ultra is a multi-purpose smart light. The fixture can provide up to 5,000 lumens of light (with adjustable color temperature), or it can display all sorts of captivating, colorful scenes. The lighting system can be set to automatically adjust throughout the day, so dad’s room can look exactly how he wants at any given moment.

The Lifestyle Ultra speaker is Bose’s take on a Sonos Speaker. The sleek, low-profile wireless speaker boasts great room-filling sound, and it’s compatible with AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Bluetooth. A dad with numerous electronic doodads might really like Werewolf’s VFLEX. It can make some barrel plug power supplies obsolete by swapping them with USB-C. The set includes programmable dongles that, when tuned in the mobile app, can deliver the right amount of power through a USB-C battery or wall adapter.

$399

The Steelfire 22 reaches searing temperatures in seven minutes and heats about 35 percent faster than cast iron, with edge-to-edge heat to minimize hot spots. The proprietary 3-ply clad stainless cooking surface requires no seasoning, resists rust, and wipes clean after every cook. Compact enough for a tailgate, capable enough for a backyard dinner party. Just in time for Father’s Day, Solo Stove is also offering 15% off select fire pits, pizza ovens, and accessories for a limited time, making it easy to upgrade your entire setup.

$45

A dad who spends a lot of time outdoors ought to get a good hat. Cotopaxi’s Tech Bucket hat is a stylish, quick-drying option that provides plenty of coverage. It can protect your head and some of your face and neck from intense ultraviolet radiation, and wick away sweat from your work or on hikes with its breathable fabric.

$49

It’s not easy to fit everything dad needs into his pants or jacket pockets. Fortunately, some cool slings exist, like Alpaka’s Flight Sling. It’s compact, yet its multi-pocket design lets you stow things like an iPad Mini, a phone, a passport, keys, and more.

$23

Buying a delicious iced coffee is fun, but they get very expensive. And tragically, they’re sometimes not yummy enough to warrant their rising costs. However, dad can make plenty of great cold brew at home however he likes for less with the help of Hario’s tall coffee maker.

$33

Rechargeable AA batteries are handy, until it’s time to charge them. Most wall chargers let you refill four, maybe six, at once. Zepath’s clever solution is to ship them in a easy-to-use USB-C charging case that lets dad charge eight simultaneously. The batteries themselves are long-lasting, too.

$38

Most will agree that it’s tough to decide what TV show or movie to watch with another adult. Adding kids to the mix makes it even harder. With Hey Kids, Watch This!, there are over 100 movie night ideas that should make for a memorable viewing session for everyone on the couch, regardless of age.

$2000

One of the best TVs you can gift dad is an RGB miniLED TV. Hisense’s UR9 is a high-end pick, with absolutely stunning brightness and color accuracy, plus a handy USB-C video port and a few HDMI ports. While not as cheap or as thin as some OLEDs, it’s packed with features and great sound performance.

Backpacks make it easy to carry precious cargo, but for a relatively new dad’s most precious cargo — their tiny kiddo — Osprey’s Poco child carrier is a must-have backpacking accessory. It’s comfortable for the kid, and the built-in sunshade and rain protector can keep them relaxed and dry while dad does all the hard work.

$99

Valve’s new Steam Controller is the most customizable wireless gamepad. As the name implies, it’s made expressly for use in Steam, be it dad’s PC, Steam Deck, or with the upcoming Steam Machine. It has trackpads, capacitive grips and sticks, and a comfortable design, making it a great choice if dad prefers a controller over a keyboard and mouse.

It features hot-swappable switches, and multiple ways to connect (Bluetooth, USB-C, or 2.4GHz wireless).

The Spear Head Spade is an essential tool for gardening. Its long shaft and handle will let dad comfortably dig soil or lift rocks without having to bend over. $99

The Power Keys (coming this summer) are just as fun to use as their predecessor, but slimmer and more useful. Attaching one to dad’s iPhone or magnet-equipped Android phone gives him a slide-out QWERTY keyboard to type on, and it keeps the phone charged with its 2,300mAh battery. The keys are backlit, and it can work with existing phone cases.

$78

It can display whichever color strikes dad’s fancy, and its brightness can be adjusted so that it’s not an eyesore at night.

$25

An Apple gift card can make a lot of wishes come true. Perhaps dad wants to buy a couple of games during downtime, or a handful of movies to watch with others. It’s a great gift that gives dad the freedom to buy exactly what he wants for Father’s Day, whenever he wants to.

$16

Is dad into golf? How’d we know you’d say yes? For days when he can’t hit the nearby course, he can play this fun notebook simulation that involves dice and just as much chance as the real-life game it’s based on. The Golf XL game lets two players compete in randomly generated courses.

$20

Losing a screw, washer, or drill bit during a repair is a pain, but magnets are here to help. The smarties at Rak designed a multi-section magnetic wristband that’ll let dad keep spares conveniently attached to his wrist, so he can easily grab what he needs (or stow pieces) while he’s at work.
