Welcome to WIRED’s Apple WWDC 2026 live blog. WIRED editor Julian Chokkattu is on the ground at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, and we have several WIRED reporters and editors watching the event from afar and contributing to the live blog: Boone Ashworth, Reece Rogers, and Michael Calore. Follow our live updates below.

Our Roundup of Today’s WWDC News

Apple Inc. will unveil a new artificial intelligence strategy on Monday at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, aiming for redemption two years after its first AI rollout was plagued by subpar technology and delayed features. Show's over! I'm going to head to some meetings, but thanks for following our live blog. We'll have more analysis and roundups of everything Apple announced soon on WIRED.com.

The developer betas are launching today for all of Apple's new operating system updates, with the official versions coming later this fall.

Tim Cook signs off, saying, “I still believe the best is yet ahead."

Apple is injecting Apple Intelligence into the Photos app. These features “enhance images in ways that respect the original moment.”

These features are: Clean Up, Extend, and Spatial Reframe.

Clean Up now does a better job of removing distractions and unwanted objects in the image.

Extend lets you expand images to give more breathing room, generating pixels based on what it thinks should be there.

Spatial Reframing uses on-device spatial models, allowing you to change the photo's perspective slightly. It also works with generative AI models to fill in the gaps that might change with the new perspective.

As digital creators, we now have so many choices for which slop factory to employ to fulfill our make-believe image needs.

Video descriptions in the Home app.

Take a shot every time Apple says Private Cloud Compute.

Making a shortcut in the Apple Shortcuts app wasn't always straightforward. Now, you can just use natural language to create a shortcut by just saying what you want, and Apple Intelligence will take care of it for you.

Apple is finally giving its Home app some love. There are smarter notification descriptions of what's happening around the home if you have compatible security cameras—much like how Google and Amazon have rolled out more descriptive AI notifications on their respective smart home platforms.

Messages and Mail will get new suggestion icons to power actions (add this to my calendar) with one tap.

Safari will start to group tabs together by topic. It analyzes the content, then sorts everything into topical headers. This reduces clutter, but of course it means that no tab will always be exactly where you left it.

Safari is getting some Apple Intelligence upgrades.

Apple Intelligence will “tame your tabs” by organizing them into topics. So if you have a bunch of tabs on coffee—maybe you're researching beans—they'll be grouped into a “Coffee” topic.

There's also “Describe an Extension,” where Safari can create a custom extension for whatever you need. Apple's password manager also takes action on your behalf to fix your passwords if there's been a breach that requires a password change.

Siri’s writing assistance in action. Quit school now, kids—the computer can do it all!

Lots of writing assistance with Siri AI. You can describe what you need with natural language, and Siri can generate a draft. Siri will understand how you talk to specific people and generate drafts in that style. And Siri will give you feedback on your writing, with Apple Intelligence also featuring automatic proofreading.

Apple says Siri AI will be available in English to start, with other languages to follow soon.

The dedicated Siri app on watchOS.

Maybe I'm just cheap, but looking forward to that check-splitting feature! No, I did not get three espresso martinis.

Siri is now integrated into the Camera app. Next to the Photo and Video tab, it kind of acts like Google Lens. Point your iPhone at anything, and Siri can help—like snap a pic of the bill at a restaurant and Siri can help you split the tab.

The Siri AI app is everywhere, even on watchOS and visionOS. On the latter, you just look at the Siri orb and talk; no need to say “Hey Siri.”
