A spatial terminal IDE for macOS
Multiple real shells arranged in stacks on a grid. Each stack has its own tabs, working directory, and notes. Drag, resize, save, restore. Runs entirely on your machine.
Free · No account · No telemetry · Apple Silicon & Intel
Local-only
Server binds to 127.0.0.1. Nothing leaves your machine.
No account
No signup. No email. Open the app and start typing.
Real PTYs
Your login shell, your aliases, your `$PWD`. vim & htop just work.
Saveable
Layouts, tabs, working dirs, and notes restore where you left them.
What's inside
▚
Drag stacks anywhere. Resize from any edge. Snap them into a grid with ⌘⇧A when you want order.
⌘T
Each stack has its own tabs and working directory. New tabs inherit cwd. ⌘W closes the stack when the last tab closes.
✎
Every stack has scratch notes attached. They survive refresh, restart, and rename — keyed to a stable id.
↳
A built-in file dock at the bottom. Drag a file into any terminal to insert its escaped absolute path — no auto-run.
↻
Refresh the window — your shells, scrollback, and running processes stay alive on the host side and re-attach.
◐
Dark, light, and white. Pick an accent or paste a hex — the chrome adapts. Nothing else in the UI is chromatic.
Local-only, on purpose
No account
The local app never asks you to sign in. If we ever build sync, accounts appear only there — the local tier stays login-free forever.
No telemetry
Your data stays on your computer.
Bound to 127.0.0.1
The embedded server listens on loopback only. It is not reachable from your network, and we won't add a "share over LAN" toggle without a security review.
Your shell, your files
Real PTYs running $SHELL -l. The file dock reads directories you open. Nothing is indexed, uploaded, or sent for "AI suggestions."
Terminals are intimate — you pipe credentials, SSH keys, and private code through them. STAX IDE is closed-source, but the runtime is small and the network surface is empty. If that changes, this page will say so first.
