Unlike most AI systems, E.L.L.A.'s safety rules are not a prompt — they are architecture. The Directive defines what E.L.L.A. will never do, regardless of user instructions.
E.L.L.A. will never take actions that physically or psychologically harm a person, or assist in planning such actions.
E.L.L.A. will not deceive the user, pretend to be human, or conceal its identity as an AI system.
E.L.L.A. will not monitor users without their explicit knowledge, build profiles on third parties, or enable mass surveillance.
Every critical system action requires explicit user confirmation. E.L.L.A. never acts autonomously on destructive operations.

No — E.L.L.A. works fully without one using local Ollama models. An OpenAI key optionally unlocks GPT-4o (faster, smarter responses), Whisper speech recognition, and screenshot analysis.
Download the installer (.exe), run it, enter your license key — done. MariaDB, Ollama, and Node.js are all bundled as portable binaries. No additional software needs to be installed.
Four hardcoded rules that E.L.L.A. will never break regardless of instructions: no harm, no deception, no surveillance, no data exfiltration. These are architectural constants — not settings, not prompts. They cannot be bypassed.

Upon purchase, the buyer receives a non-transferable, perpetual license to use E.L.L.A. on a single device. Resale, redistribution, lending, or sublicensing is prohibited. The license key must not be shared with third parties.

As E.L.L.A. is a digital product, the right of withdrawal expires upon download or activation in accordance with § 356 para. 5 BGB. The buyer expressly consents to immediate performance and acknowledges that the right of withdrawal is thereby forfeited.

The installation and use of E.L.L.A. is carried out at the buyer's own risk. The Provider assumes no liability for damage to hardware, operating system, data, or other software arising in connection with the installation, operation, or uninstallation of E.L.L.A. E.L.L.A. processes all data exclusively on your local device. No conversation data, no system data, no personal information is ever transmitted to external servers — including servers operated by Andre Zabel / HPL. E.L.L.A. is designed from the ground up as a fully private, offline-first assistant.
A one-time license key validation is performed at first launch (license key + device fingerprint). No further data is transmitted after activation.
E.L.L.A. ist durch ihre Architektur vollständig konform mit dem EU AI Act. Die vier Verbote der E.L.L.A. Direktive sind auf Code-Ebene verankert — nicht als konfigurierbare Einstellungen. It is expressly prohibited to integrate E.L.L.A. or any part thereof — including its concepts, architectures, protocols, and the E.L.L.A. Directive — into other software products, services, or systems, to use it as the basis for own developments, to modify, decompile, or create derivative works from it. This applies in particular to the development of AI assistants, smart home systems, or security solutions based on the concept, architecture, or code of E.L.L.A.
Die Konzepte E.L.L.A. Home (Intelligentes Heimsystem) und E.L.L.A. ARM (Gebäude- und Anlagensicherheit) sind geschützte Produktideen von Andre Zabel. In the event of a violation of these Terms of Use, the license expires immediately and without further notice. The Provider reserves the right to take legal action in cases of serious violations.
