Trip to Changchun

On October 25, 2025, I traveled to Changchun, Jilin Province for a business trip. The distance between Hefei and Changchun is nearly 2000 kilometers, so I chose to fly, which was also my first time taking a plane.

As the end of the year approached, the temperature in Changchun was quite low, but fortunately, there was no rain during my trip, and the weather was acceptable. To minimize travel mishaps, I only brought a backpack containing my computer and cables, without any additional clothing or personal items.

Departure

On the morning of October 25, 2025, I left my home and stopped by the company to pick up the necessary items before heading to the airport. I arrived at the airport around 9:15 AM.

Upon arrival at the airport, I first collected my paper ticket and then went through security.

During the security check, I was unaware that photography was not allowed, and I was later asked to delete the photos I had taken. I will be more cautious about this in the future.

To be safe, I minimized my phone usage until just before boarding, when I started taking photos again. The following photos are of other planes.

As the plane took off, I switched to flight mode. Sitting by the window, I watched the ground gradually shrink until it was obscured by clouds.

During the one and a half hour journey, I grew tired of the view outside the window and dozed off. Outside, there was a vast sea of clouds.

Around noon, the plane offered complimentary meals and drinks. To avoid any stomach issues and the inconvenience of changing clothes, I declined the meal.

Around 1:10 PM, as we approached our destination, the plane began its descent, and I could see the ground through the clouds.

The plane taxied to the parking position, preparing for disembarkation.

Arrival in Changchun

Upon arriving at Changchun Longjia International Airport, I met directly with the client, and we went to the site together to assess the situation.

Around 7:20 PM, I felt a bit exhausted, but thankfully the debugging work was finished, so I walked 1.5 kilometers alone to the hotel to rest.

Changchun evenings are quite cold, around 3 degrees Celsius. Entering indoors, the cold air dissipated instantly, making it much warmer.

The next day, due to an unexpected problem at the site, I rested alone at the hotel. After breakfast, I returned to my room to organize the week’s work. In the afternoon, I remotely debugged the company’s programs, and also familiarized myself with gdb.

The afternoon of the third day, I went to the site to assist the client in resolving the issue. After returning to the hotel that evening, I continued remotely debugging the program.

On the fourth day, I departed for Hefei, concluding my trip to Changchun.

During this time, my parents introduced me to a potential blind date online. After sharing some screenshots and videos of my business trip, I was planning to visit some tourist attractions in Changchun on Sunday, but I thought it wouldn’t be fun to do it alone, and I was also quite busy with work, so I stayed at the hotel to rest.

Return to Hefei

At 7:00 AM on October 28, 2025, I left the hotel for the airport. The journey back was uneventful; nothing particularly noteworthy happened.

During boarding, passengers were transported by vehicle to the aircraft, and then boarded via the stairs.

Because my seat wasn’t by the window, I didn’t take any pictures of the scenery outside.

After getting off the plane, I took a taxi home. There was a small hiccup along the way; I wasn’t aware of the difference between the two floors of the terminal. I later learned that the first floor was mainly for taxis, while the second floor was for ride-hailing services and private cars.

Summary

This trip to Changchun, although I encountered many problems, went relatively smoothly overall. I mainly learned about Changchun’s climate and environment, and also learned about the procedures and precautions for taking a flight.
