Ah, solution to my previous comment is to remove libz.so.1 from the lib directory.
./survivor-bin: /xxx/survivor/lib32/libz.so.1: version `ZLIB_1.2.3.4' not found (required by /usr/lib/libpng16.so.16) What can I do?
I cannot tell you either. After an update of the catalyst drivers, switching to xorg-server 1.13 and rebooting several times in between I finally got the game running on my system. There seems to be a bug within the game, however: Turning on the flashlight slows it down to 0.1 fps … that makes it unplayable, but that has nothing to do with packaging. Anyway, thanks for the help!
adoa: That's odd. libGLU.so.1 is provided by mesa/lib32-mesa. I don't know what's wrong with your setup.
Now I made it just with makepkg, makes actually much more sense. However I still get an error message when I try to launch the game: error while loading shared libraries: libGLU.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
@adoa. Yeah, yaourt works that way. It clears out the build folder when it starts messing with a package. You make find it easier to use makepkg directly. When using yaourt, run 'yaourt -S shadowgrounds-survivor'; when it prompts to review the PKGBUILD, copy the download to that temp directory; and then continue the build process like normal. Everything should work if you copy the download after yaourt has been run and already started processing the package, but before it starts building.
yaourt tells me that WARNUNG: Requires game download placed at /tmp/yaourt-tmp-valneq/aur-shadowgrounds-survivor/survivorUpdate1.run But copying the file there somehow does not help. After evoking 'yaourt -S shadowgrounds-survivor' the file is gone. Should I edit the PKGUILD somehow?
ejona86 : Indeed, the message would be a good idea, like "Warning for x86_64 users, this needs the lib32 version of the gtk-engines, like lib32-gtk-engines, lib32-gtk-engine-equinox or lib32-gtk-engine-murrine available in AUR."
PostBlue: Huh, it broke without it... I need lib32-gtk-engines (for clearlooks) for things to look pretty, but the window still comes up and is usable without it. It spewed this warning several times, but still functioned fully: (shadowgrounds-launcher:25761): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "clearlooks", If it was a pain to figure out what was going wrong, I could add an install message for 64 bit installs that suggests making sure your GTK+2 theme has its lib32 variant installed.

Using the humblebundle package, I had to remove all lib32 files from the game folder and keep only these: lib32/libavcodec.so.51 lib32/libavformat.so.52 lib32/libavutil.so.49 lib32/libboost_thread-mt.so.1.35.0 lib32/libGLEW.so.1.5 lib32/libmikmod.so.2 lib32/libPhysXCore.so lib32/libPhysXLoader.so.1 lib32/libSDL_sound-1.0.so.1 lib32/libsmpeg-0.4.so.0 and install the libs as requested until the game works
