Well, this is a bit odd. Upstream seems abandoned, but is still found on the page listing officially supported clients, which the potential successor you mentioned (introduced to the AUR recently) isn't.
So I'll discuss this upstream, which will probably result in me filing a deletion request for this package.
Python 2 support dropped for the time being.
Nevertheless, please refrain from misusing the out-of-date flag.
Is this package still needed? It saw its last release in 2015.
In case it is, can you maybe remove the python2 subpackage?
I'm seeing that there is a successor to this, called libravatar-py, which "mimics the API ( and functionality ) of pyLibravatar but with asyncio", according to its creator.

I just didn't know if you read the comments or are subscribed to its notifications (even if so, such emails can easily get 'lost' and overlooked among the myriad of others).
