Finally had some time so figured I'd sit down and muck with it, reading through repo realized they're already keeping google-chat-linux-bin up-to-date and.... that'll work for me. I'll disown the package, in case someone wants to pick it up and do that, though.

Just realized this had been out of date for quite a while and was orphaned so I did a local test and updated the package. Not the original author, but happy to make changes if needed, I'm a huge fan of the tool :)
