In a very Mexican kind of night, with mariachi leading the way, Alejandro Fernández took over Guadalajara, Mexico on Thursday (June 25) for a free concert dubbed La Serenata Más Grande del Mundo (“The Biggest Serenade in the World”), drawing a record-breaking 270,000 attendees, according to local Civil Protection authorities. The feat tops the mark Fernández himself set 17 years ago at the same venue, La Minerva, when he pulled in 200,000 people.
The free show was part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Fan Fest.
Also known as “El Potrillo,” the superstar made sure to honor his family legacy by bringing his children — singers Camila Fernández and Alex Fernández — onstage. Camila, who opened the show, wore an elegant charra suit, carrying on the tradition passed down by her father and grandfather, the legendary Vicente Fernández. To loud cheers from the crowd, she performed originals like “Suéltame” and covers including “No Llega el Olvido” before bringing out her dad.
Amid deafening screams, Alejandro Fernández hit the stage and treated the massive crowd to hits from his catalog, including “Estuve” and “Tantita Pena,” while also paying tribute to his father with classics like “Hermoso Cariño,” “No Me Sé Rajar” and “El Rey” — the night’s biggest singalong.
“With this serenade, we’re going to make the whole world shake. Viva Jalisco, viva México, and viva la Selección Nacional!” Fernández shouted before calling up another member of the family, Alex, who showed off his powerhouse voice alongside his father on songs like “Perdón,” making it clear the Fernández dynasty is in good hands.
Guests also included Julión Álvarez and Alfredo Olivas, two of regional Mexican music’s biggest stars right now, who helped round out the epic show organized by the Government of Jalisco.

Camila Fernández’s Words to Her Father
Clearly emotional, Camila Fernández addressed her father while he waited backstage.
“I want to thank a great man, a great artist who has always given his love to Mexican music and Mexican culture, who taught me to speak from the heart, to speak through the language of music, and to hold Mexico high. Please give a huge round of applause to Alejandro Fernández,” said the only female singer in the iconic family, fighting back tears.
When she left the stage, “El Potrillo” greeted her with congratulations and a hug.

Alejandro Fernández and Alex Fernández sharing the stage moved the crowd and earned huge applause, as the two delivered powerful vocals worthy of carrying on the legacy of ranchera icon Vicente Fernández.

Alfredo Olivas’ Appearance
The arrival of Alfredo Olivas — one of regional Mexican music’s most successful stars in recent years — sent the crowd into a frenzy. With Fernández, he performed “Cobijas Ajenas,” the song they recorded together in 2025.
“A round of applause for Alfredito Olivas, straight out of Ciudad Obregón, Sonora — a guy who plays accordion and sings his ass off,” Fernández said as he introduced him. “I’ll leave you with him so you can enjoy.”
Olivas then performed “El Precio de la Soledad” and “Con la Novedad.”

Julión Álvarez Jumps On ‘Nube Viajera’
Julión Álvarez also answered the call for the historic night, and the crowd response couldn’t have been bigger.
“How cool, and thank you, that I was able to bring out two of my buddies — colleagues I admire so much,” Fernández said while introducing the singer known as “El Rey de la Taquilla” (or “Box Office King”).
Álvarez performed his hit “Terrenal,” and the two later teamed up on Fernández’s “Nube Viajera,” blending their very different styles into one standout version.
“Thank you, man, for thinking of us for this, which is ‘The Biggest Serenade in the World,’” an emotional Álvarez told him.

Tribute to Vicente Fernández
On a night this special, a tribute to Vicente Fernández was a must, and Alejandro delivered with several of his father’s songs. But one in particular sparked the night’s most heartfelt reaction: “A Mi Manera.” His deeply felt performance — as moving as his father’s — brought many in the crowd to tears, and left the entire plaza overflowing with emotion.
