Bailey Zimmerman is facing federal and criminal misdemeanor charges after allegedly trashing a hotel room in New Mexico. TMZ first reported the news, and Billboard has independently verified the charges.

According to a court filing on June 18, prosecutors filed an arrest warrant against the country singer, stemming from an incident on May 27. Zimmerman was charged with a felony charge for criminal damage to property (over $1,000) as well as a misdemeanor charge of falsely obtaining services in New Mexico.

Zimmerman had been scheduled to perform at an amphitheater at Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque on May 27, but according to TMZ, authorities noted the singer seemed to be intoxicated, stumbling and acting hostilely, as well as throwing stage equipment during soundcheck. The outlet reports Zimmerman left the soundcheck, returned to the resort and canceled the show.

Zimmerman wrote on Instagram at the time, “Y’all know there’s nothing I love more than getting out on the road and playing these shows for you, so it’s so hard for me to have to say this, but I have to reschedule tonight’s (5/27) and Saturday’s (5/30) shows. I have not been feeling well and have tried to power through, but I am not able to give you all the show you deserve.”

According to TMZ, the resort kicked him out due to his behavior, but he allegedly initially refused to leave in a bus the resort provided, and the hotel ultimately called police. Zimmerman was then escorted off the property.

According to TMZ, hotel staff later found that Zimmerman’s hotel room had been damaged, including the television, phone, coffee table and two chairs, as well as damage to walls and stains on the carpet. The outlet reports there was $16,000 worth of damages. The hotel also alleged that the singer charged more than $400 in alcohol to his hotel room, but the tab was not settled. When the hotel could not reach Zimmerman and his staff, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Billboard has reached out to reps for Zimmerman for comment.

Zimmerman’s next scheduled performance date is June 25 at the Country Drive Music Festival in Ashland, Nebraska. Zimmerman’s song “Chevy Silverado” is currently at No. 14 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.
