Jeremy Clarkson Says He’s in Remission From Cancer: ‘Offi...

Top Gear” and “Clarkson’s Farm” star Jeremy Clarkson is officially in remission from cancer.

Last week, it was revealed on an episode of “Clarkson’s Farm” — which was shot last year — that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer. However, in a new interview with The Sunday Times, Clarkson said that he is now in remission.

“I am without a doubt, officially, the world’s luckiest man,” he said, telling The Times that the reaction to his diagnosis “landed harder than I thought it would.”

The cancer was discovered last May after a routine check-up, and required a procedure to remove a tumor on his prostate. “It was an aggressive type of cancer,” Clarkson said. “It could have spread, it could have gone into the pancreas, it could have gone anywhere, and that would have been trouble.”

But Clarkson said a follow-up test taken two months ago showed no indication of cancer, though he acknowledged that 40% of those who get prostate cancer once will get it again. “I try to be positive,” he said. “I’ve decided to be one of the 60% who doesn’t have a recurrence.”

The experience has inspired Clarkson to encourage other men to get their prostates checked in order to catch any cancer early, like he did.

“This is why I have to say to everybody who’s reading this, please, please, please go and get checked,” Clarkson told The Times. “It’s not uncomfortable, it’s not undignified. And it’s a no-brainer. I did, and that’s why I’m sitting here talking to you 11 months down the line.”
