Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker have signed with UTA for representation in all areas, Variety has learned. The duo continue to be repped by Adventure Media and Allison Binder at Goodman Genow Schenkman.
Halpern and Schumacker and their company, Delicious Non-Sequitur productions, are currently under and overall deal with Warner Bros. Television. They are executive producers and co-showrunners on the hit ABC sitcom “Abbott Elementary” alongside series creator and star Quinta Brunson. The show recently aired its fifth season and has already been renewed for a sixth. It has also earned four consecutive nominations for best comedy series at the Emmy Awards.
Previously, Halpern and Schumacker co-created the critically-acclaimed HBO Max-DC Entertainment series “Harley Quinn” starring Kaley Cuoco, as well as the spinoff series “Kite Man: Hell Yeah!” No strangers to the DC world, the pair also served as showrunners on the NBC series “Powerless.” They are also known for co-creating shows like “Surviving Jack” at Fox and “S*** My Dad Says” at CBS, the latter of which was based on the book of the same name written by Halpern.
Up next, they are adapting Halpern’s book “I Suck at Girls” as a Netflix comedy series. They are the co-creators and co-showrunners on the series, with Bill Lawrence also executive producing via Doozer Productions and its overall deal with WBTV. Halpern’s debut fiction novel, “Get Lost,” will be published by Hachette Book Group on July 7. They are adapting the book for film and are attached to direct.
Halpern and Schumacker’s additional credits include “iZombie,” “Cougar Town,” and “How to Be a Gentleman.” They also wrote the feature “Birthright” for Universal Pictures and Skybound.
