BytePlus Hosts Closed-Door AI Roundtable to Open APOS 2026

APOS 2026 got underway in Bali on Tuesday with a private luncheon roundtable convened by BytePlus, the enterprise technology arm of ByteDance, drawing senior executives from broadcasters, creators, and streaming platforms across six Asian markets to debate the operational impact of artificial intelligence on content production.

The session – held ahead of the main APOS Summit, which has served as the Asia-Pacific media and entertainment industry’s primary strategic gathering since 2010 – brought together representatives from Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Participants included ABS-CBN, CJ ENM, Emtek Media, JioStar, MD Entertainment, Media Prima, MNC Group, True Corporation, U-Next, and Viu.

Discussion focused on how generative AI tools – among them ByteDance’s Dreamina Seedance 2.0 – are allowing media companies to expand creative output while improving productivity. The group examined how hybrid production models incorporating AI have moved from theoretical planning into day-to-day operations for companies developing their next content slates.

“Our aim is to provide partners with innovative, reliable AI solutions that enhance creative workflows and transform ideas into enterprise-ready production,” said Charlie Sung, head of global partnership and ecosystem at BytePlus. “AI solutions are not a substitute for creative vision; they are an instrument for realizing it more seamlessly and effectively. We regard this as the beginning of a long-term collaboration with Asia’s content community.”

“Artificial intelligence is reshaping both the economics and the craft of content, and that is a conversation best held among peers,” added Vivek Couto, CEO and executive director of Media Partners Asia, which produces APOS. “Roundtables such as this reflect how the industry is approaching the moment.”

The roundtable also carries commercial significance for ByteDance. Seedance 2.0 – the video generation model at the center of the discussion – is currently rolling out through ByteDance’s CapCut editing platform in a phased launch that prioritizes several of the same markets represented at the session, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand.

The BytePlus session is one of several private convenings running alongside APOS 2026’s main program of keynotes, panels, and briefings, which continues through the week in Bali.
