Building on the success of “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir,” Paris-based Zag is launching a new chapter in its youth-focused portfolio with “Ghostforce Evolution” which has been boarded by Netflix, France’s TF1 and Germany’s Super RTL.

Currently in production, “Ghostforce Evolution” expands the premise of a prior “Ghostforce” series which came out in 2021. Set in New York City, the series follows teens Andy, Liv and Mike as they juggle school, friendships and first crushes while secretly serving as members of the Ghost Force, a team tasked with protecting the city from supernatural threats. Guided by scientist Luna Jones, the trio confronts villains unleashed by Prince Onara and the imprisoned ghost king Buriburi.

Comprising 26 half-hour episodes and a 44-minute special, “Ghostforce Evolution” blends comedy, action and coming-of-age storytelling, with each episode centered on a different fear (ranging from storms and snakes to technology and the unknown) that the young heroes must overcome in order to prevent New York from falling under supernatural control.

“The original ‘Ghostforce’ series introduced audiences to a superhero trio protecting New York City from fear-driven ghosts, quickly building a global fanbase with its blend of comedy, action, and relatable teen dynamics,” said Ian Lambur, executive vice president of series at Zag.

“With ‘Ghostforce Evolution,’ we’re leaning into what Zag and Jeremy Zag do best — crafting stories filled with magic, heart, and adventure, where everyday teens rise as extraordinary heroes, much like “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir,'” Lambur continued.

Dominique Neudecker, editor-in-chief of kids and family programming at Super RTL, said, “’Ghostforce Evolution’ is a standout series that perfectly combines distinct characters, adventure and relatable storytelling with a unique look and feel.”

Yann Labasque, head of youth programming at TF1 Group, pointed the “series combines action and sitcom, with a ghost-hunting vibe that will keep viewers immediately hooked.”
