The second note sent to media outlets in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie said that the 84-year-old mother of “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie was dead, according to a recent report from NBC News.

The Guthrie family received two notes shortly after Nancy’s disappearance. The first demanded a cryptocurrency ransom for Nancy’s safe return, and the contents of the second were not revealed until now. ABC News reports that the second message said Nancy died shortly after she was abducted and was buried somewhere in nature.

Nancy was last seen in her Tucson, Ariz. home on Jan. 31. Two days later, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters that he believed Nancy was abducted and found a “very concerning” scene at her house, though he was short on details.

On Feb. 10, the first major breakthrough in the search occurred when the FBI discovered doorbell footage of a possible culprit breaking into Nancy’s home. A person of interest was arrested in the following days but was released shortly after. There has been little to no progress made in Nancy’s recovery since.

Savannah Guthrie recently sat in for Sheinelle Jones on the fourth hour of “Today,” and shared with host Jenna Bush Hager what it’s been like going back to work while her mother is still missing.

“When I see you in the morning, I know that you see me, no matter what is going on,” she said. “Sometimes, that’s almost too much because I feel like to do the job, I gotta keep it together. But I’m happy to be back and it’s like two hours of my day that — it’s not that I’m not thinking about it, because I am — but it’s something to do. It brings me a lot of joy to be with everybody. It’s not easy.”
