Mad Max mastermind George Miller has reportedly begun seeking out Hollywood studios in hopes of making one last Mad Max movie, as well as a TV show, before he sells the rights to his universe to someone else.

Details on what could be the end of one chapter for the post-apocalyptic film series come from Puck. The site reported that Miller has garnered interest from companies like Amazon, Universal, and Sony, as he seeks to tell a few more stories set in the world of Mad Max.

It's a plan that would, should everything work out, see the filmmaker make one more Mad Max movie and, hopefully, a TV show. Then, as Puck says, he would sell the rights to the highest bidder. For now, however, nothing has been confirmed.

There's no official information on what exactly is next for the franchise or when Miller would like to see something released, but today's news should come as a bittersweet update for fans. The filmmaker first brought The Road Warrior to life with the release of the original Mad Max all the way back in 1979. Two sequels then arrived through the '80s, and in 2015, he returned to helm Mad Max: Fury Road, while Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga eventually managed to launch in 2024.

The Anya Taylor-Joy-led Furiosa prequel was praised by fans upon its release but seemingly struggled to recoup costs during its time at the box office, leading many to believe another Mad Max film may never leave the driveway. Puck reported that, if Miller does work on more Mad Max, it at least won't be with Warner Bros., where all previous movies were handled, because both its film and TV divisions passed on his pitch.

While what another Miller-made Mad Max movie would look like remains to be seen, the director has given fans a taste of some of the ideas he's had in the past. In the fallout of the release of Fury Road, he teased an idea he called "Mad Max: The Wasteland."

Details on this particular project have mostly been quiet since, though, with Tom Hardy, who has played the titular character, saying in 2024 that he didn't think it would ever come to be. Rumors up to this point have painted the project as a prequel to Fury Road.
